The final rounds of Mixed Formation Skydiving wrapped up on Day 8 of the 2026 USPA National Championships at Skydive Perris, with close races in all three categories and a new California State record in the Open class.

In Intermediate, Air Force Vertigo and Hail Mary entered the day tied for first place, sending the teams into a jump-off to determine the final standings. Vertigo scored 17 points to take the gold medal, while Hail Mary scored 15 points for silver. Air Force Odyssey earned bronze with a 9.3-point overall average.

Air Force High Noon dominated the Advanced class, finishing with 151 points. Air Force Jokers earned second with 90 points, followed by Corn Devils with 34.

The Open class remained competitive through the final rounds, with only a few points separating several teams. SDC Matrix and SDO New Shoe Crew tied in Round 8, but Matrix pulled ahead to finish second with 135 points. New Shoe Crew earned bronze with 128 points in its first year competing in the Open class.

Fliteshop continued its strong record in the discipline, taking first place with 150 points. The team also set a California State record for highest average with 15 points.

With MFS complete, the VFS teams began their competition, completing four rounds on Day 8 before finishing the competition the following morning.

In Intermediate, Air Force Shooterz completed its final two rounds to finish with 28 points and a 4.7-point average. As the only team in the category, Shooterz earned the gold medal.

Saucy Sassy  Sauce took the Advanced title with 59 points, edging Shapes On A Plane after the teams tied in Rounds 2 and 6.

In Open, reigning champions Skydive Chicago Core successfully defended their title with 203 points. The team tied Arizona Anthem in Rounds 3 and 6 but ultimately finished 27 points ahead of the second-place team.

Skydive Chicago Core also established two California State records, posting 28 points in Round 9 for longest sequence and a 20.3-point average for highest average.

Arizona Anthem finished second with 176 points, while Powerline Drone Strike earned bronze with 116.

The fourth-place team also made its mark on the record books, establishing new California State and national records in the all-female category. The team recorded a 7.9-point average and an 11-point longest sequence in Rounds 4 and 9.

After the final VFS jumps, competitors gathered for a banquet hosted by Skydive Perris. Skydiving legends Mike Ortiz, Andy Malchiodi, Travis Fienhage, Billy Calhoun and Craig O’Brien presented the VFS awards.
