After the Southern California morning fog burned off, the Twin Otter engines fired up and the five Canopy Formation 4-way Sequential teams took to the skies.

Elsinore Revolution came out strong, posting double-digit scores in every round. The team’s best performance came in round three, with 13 points. MisFits 4S also put together a solid performance, recording its highest score of the day — 7 points — in Round 3. Elsinore Yahoos currently sits tied for third with MisFits 4S. But their biggest development of the day happened on the ground. After disappearing during yesterday’s jumps, the missing shoes were found.

With four rounds of sequential complete, Meet Director Scott Smith switched gears and sent the 2-way Open teams back into the sky to complete their final four jumps.

Once again, Golden Knights brought the big numbers. The team continued their high-scoring streak, recording more than 20 points in nearly every round. Their best score came in Round six, with 25 points.

Deland Hard Deck Heroes and Elsinore Too Wrapped Up 2 tied in rounds one, four and eight. When the scores were totaled, Hard Deck Heroes moved into second place with 106 points.

Then came the final round. Bad Advice Club was in the air for its final jump when a broken line brought the round to an unexpected halt. Following a gear inspection, Chief Judge Randy Connell authorized the team for a re-jump. The team’s final jump — and the final standings — will have to wait until tomorrow.

While the planes were busy turning Canopy Formation loads, another discipline was preparing to take center stage. Wingsuit Acrobatic teams arrived at the DZ and completed practice jumps ahead of tomorrow’s competition. If today’s practice is any indication, competitors are ready to showcase some creative flying.

To prepare for competition, Wingsuit Chief Judge Steve Hubbard conducted a random draw, with assistance from competitors, to determine the sequences for tomorrow’s compulsory rounds. The sequences are set. Tomorrow, competitors will put them to the test!
